FAQs

General

We recommend a gradual transition when changing your pet’s diet to allow your pet’s digestive system time to adjust to the high nutritional value of our recipes. Start with a small amount of CHARA added to your pets’ current food then gradually increase the amount, while reducing the other food over a period of at least 7 days. Please refer to our transition guide.

It is not unusual for your pet to experience soft stools during the first few weeks when transitioning to CHARA or any other new food. If your pet’s stool continues to be loose it may be an indication of being overfed. To determine the exact amount of CHARA to feed please refer to our feeding guidance.

We strictly require our suppliers to provide the freshest and raw materials and ensure that all raw materials are fully cooked and excess moisture is removed through a low-temperature air-drying process to prevent the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

CHARA is a natural food and the seasonality of the ingredients we use often results in variability of shape, size, color, texture and odor. This variation is perfectly normal and is an indicator of how natural the food is.

All the CHARA recipes meet the AAFCO nutrient profiles for all life stages. CHARA can be introduced to weaned kittens and puppies and is suitable for senior cats and dogs.

For optimum nutrition we recommend you feed 100% CHARA. However, if you wish to feed CHARA with another food type you can. CHARA can be fed many ways such as your pet’s daily food, as a nutritious topper on your existing food or as a tasty treat.

Dogs and cats are satisfied when their nutritional and calorific needs are met. During the transition period, your pet will adapt to eating a smaller amount of food, but you can be assured that they are receiving everything they need for optimal health.

If your pet appears to be seeking more food, we recommend you resist the urge to overfeed. CHARA is extremely nutrient-dense, so less is required to provide the correct number of calories and nutrients.

CHARA feeding guidelines are consistent with AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) recommendations, which are based on the National Research Council’s Nutrient Requirements for Dogs and Cats. This is a compilation of scientific research done on dog and cat nutrition and is the reference book used by professionals worldwide.

Our guarantee to you is that our food will maintain its integrity through to the printed expiration date, and we recommend you feed our products before the printed Best Before date.

All CHARA products meet or exceed the s AAFCO-approved standards.
